POP ‘N TEA BAR

Client: Pop ‘N Tea Bar

Project: Art Direction, Branding, & Product Design

Type: Consumer Products - Food & Beverage

Year: 2016-Current

— Pop ‘N Tea Bar began as a dream on paper to reality. Our menu was crafted especially for the Phoenix market by our founders (me, Matt, and Benson) who wanted to bring higher-quality teas and a unique take on gelato to the Valley. We were tired of seeing great boba ruined by underwhelming drinks and mediocre ingredients. Our menu is inspired by food and drinks from all over the world!

After studying Arizona's coffee and dessert market for 3 years, I learned the cultural favorites and incorporated those aspects with a new take on our creative direction and branding of Pop ‘N Tea Bar.

Home of the diamond bars

I’d say most don’t choose to recreate the wheel, but for us, it was something more. It was exciting, new, challenging, and rewarding. We wanted to bring in a product that represented our culture. With our love of art and food, we created the “Diamond Bars”. It all began with conceptualizing the design to testing physical samples with 3D printing and the perfect gelato until we had it just right.

DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER

The culinary world has come a long way with new chefs, techniques, and unique takes on different dishes. For us, the easel is a popsicle and we’ve pushed the envelope to create our take on a timeless classic. Throughout the reel, I specifically displayed the Diamond Bars to be elegant like an art piece you can eat. They are fun, fashionable and high quality.

THE ART OF TEA…and more

We only use natural flavors with fresh fruits. Our teas are nitro-brewed and paired with the purest ingredients. Simply, we don’t settle for anything but the best. The difference is in the taste: fair-trade teas that are responsibly sourced across the globe. But it doesn’t stop there, we incorporate that into all of our drinks so anyone can enjoy it.

Marketing our drinks we wanted to push that high-quality feel and stray away from the typical boba shop aesthetic. Our focus is to highlight the key ingredients of what makes our drinks stand out.

Work: The Sun Devil - Our most popular craft tea. A crisp blend of peach and strawberry black tea paired with fresh fruit bits. So what did I do here? For this ad, the highlight was to show the crisp feeling you get when drinking the nitro tea. You can definitely see it in the shot…to finish it off, lighting was important to show the subtle notes of the fresh fruits. A must try if you haven’t had it!

Work: When it comes to marketing and design, my thought process always returns to how the consumer sees it. For this refreshing smoothie, it’s mainly made with peaches. So when I think of peaches, I’m thinking tropical, summer, sweet, refreshing, and just what you need to beat the AZ heat. That’s exactly what I did here. Main focus - The branding. Logo right dead center, and followed by the supporting elements of what makes the drink unique!

branding + design

It wasn’t until we landed our first brick-and-mortar location that the iconic Pop ‘N Tea Bar logo was born. We are located in the historic My Florist Plaza in downtown Phoenix where our unit was the actual flower shop of the plaza that dates back to the early 1960’s.

Shown here: Our storefront - Window graphics designed as melting gelato to attract your attention to the store.

Above the graphics: Our signage which includes our “Rose logo”. This was designed to represent a flower to pay homage to the history of the building. It’s made up of two parts, the Diamond Bars and tea leaves.

Activate your SPECIALTY

Creating our “Activate Your Specialty” campaign, we collaborated with Team USA’s - 400m track & field athlete, Paul Dedewo. His favorite drink is the Sun Devil.

The idea behind this project was to share what their favorite Pop ‘N Tea drink is and what they do best. With the pun, activate your special tea…our goal is to inspire our community to help the youth and the people around us to find what they love to do and pursue it.

Work: Art direction, storyboarding and filming.

the 5th hand

Creating the 5th Hand art show, we collaborated with local phoenix artists - Spawk and Tony Ce.

This art show shared the talented graffiti artists of Phoenix with proceeds donated to the Phoenix Union High School District. Collaborating and sharing different cultures was a great way for us to expand our products to new demographics and share more details about what types of art we appreciate within the brand. Similar to Activate Your Specialty, we want to share what people love to do and hope it inspires those around us.
